The very first day when I stepped foot into the office, I was very anxious and curious about what’s going to happen?? But everything went smoothly and I was surprised to see how the employees treated me with full generosity. I was given full freedom to talk to anyone. But being an introvert I never took advantage of that freedom!!
I would take this opportunity to extend an earnest feeling of gratitude and a vote of thanks to the following people for helping and motivating me during my internship. Firstly, my manager who is an Amazeballs. I was extremely lucky to work with him and was astonished by his extraordinary abilities to be calm and poised in every situation. I was so moved by seeing his dedication towards work, and he’ll definitely be one of my biggest inspirations in life.
Secondly, I offer my sincere appreciation for the learning opportunities provided by my mentor. I like to thank him for his constant zest, which kept me motivated through the 22 weeks of internship. My mentor not only discussed and guided me through the projects but also allowed me to take control. He gave me a sense of ownership by giving me total freedom on developing initial design concepts of a given problem. Also, he taught me how to frame and approach a problem statement which made my work much easier and gave me a better perspective. As it’s truly said:
A problem well stated is a problem half–solved.
— Charles Kettering
Also, his patience and leadership taught me a lot, and I’ll always admire and respect him.
Finally, my colleagues and my entire design team, without them I cannot imagine that I would have survived these 22 weeks. They showed me unconditional support and trust and always kept my morale high. I was so lucky to have people who understood each other and worked well together. Being part of a great team at work is a phenomenal feeling. And I really felt that. Also, I made a few FRIENDS FOREVER!!
I would also like to give a brief idea of the design process at MX.
Like in most companies, our UX Team works mostly between the Product Team and UI Design teams.
It usually starts with a detailed Product Requirements Document from the Product Team. These could have either the new features in MX or improvement on the existing features. Improvements that may arise from the testing, user reviews, internal review, or user behaviour data.
Either way, we start with a PRD (Product Requirements Document) in which the product team details their ideas, context, and reasons for the requirement. Upon delivery, it’s common to have Requirement Analysis and Brainstorming Sessions with the Product team for further clarity on the challenge at hand.
We convert these product challenges into HMW (How Might We) Statements to kickstart the brainstorming and research stages. This allows us to frame a proper problem statement and an ideal state of solving it.
